Bernadette Peters

 Bernadette Peters (nee Lazzara, born February 28 1948) is an American singer, actress and author of children's books. Over a career spanning more than six decades, she's appeared in the musical theatre, on television and in film, performed in solo concerts and released recordings. Highly acclaimed Broadway performer, she has received seven Tony Awards nominations, winning two (plus an honourary award) and nine Drama Desk Award nominations. She received three. Grammy Awards were won for four of her Broadway parts.



 



 Peters is widely recognized as the most prominent interpreter of the works of Stephen Sondheim. Her roles on Broadway include Mack and Mabel (1974), Sunday in the Park with George (84), Song and Dance (1985), Into the Woods with George (87) and The Goodbye Girl(93), Annie Get Your Gun 1999), Gypsy (2003), A Little Night Music (2009), Follies (2011) and Hello, Dolly (2018).
